Kentucky Mesonet temporary exhibit! Friday, May 4 and Saturday May 5, 2012
The Kentucky Mesonet is a research grade network of automated weather and climate monitoring stations being developed by the Kentucky Climate Center at Western Kentucky University. Mesonet staff will be at BRIMS with a large scale model of one of these monitoring stations to answer questions about weather, the tools and goals for gathering weather data, and the Mesonet project.
BRIMS Birthday Celebration and Open House April 21, 2012
BRIMS is 18! Come see what over 60,000 visitors have already experienced. Admission is FREE all day (from 10am to 6pm)! Doug Jenkins will present his fascinating Wave Show at 2pm followed by birthday cake. Other activities also planned. Come celebrate with us!
Usborne Books Book Fair April 14, 2012
Come buy some great science books, enjoy a hands-on activity, and help support BRIMS! We would love to havethese great science books.
BRIMS is excited to host the Southern Kentucky Regional Science Fair on Saturday, March 17!
Our region includes 13 counties across southern and western Kentucky. The scientists are in ninth through twelfth grade. Entries will be judged throughout the morning with an awards program in the early afternoon. Visit this link to learn more about the International Science Fair, where the regional winners will go to compete.
Official public viewing of the science fair entries will be from noon to 3:00 p.m.
Stupp Bridge Building Competition March 10, 2012
The BRIMS Regional Bridge Building Chamionship began in 1996. Any middle or high school student in the surrounding area is eligible to compete in this unique test of physics ingenuity. This competition, held every March, awards the strongest bridge design using 3/32 inch basswood and glue. There is no entry fee for the contest itself; the only cost will be the kit. Trophies are awarded to the top five finishers. The top two high school finishers receive an expense paid trip to the International Championship in the following April.
